Target: Net Zero by 2035
This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines Autohorn Fleet Services’ commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with UK national targets and best practice for sustainable business operations.
Introduction & Purpose
Autohorn Fleet Services (“Autohorn”) acknowledges the urgent challenge of climate change and recognises the need to reduce our carbon footprint across operations, fleet activities, facilities, and supply chain partnerships.
This plan outlines our approach to carbon management, reduction strategies, and key milestones to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2035, ahead of the UK Government’s recommended corporate timetable.
Baseline Emissions & Scope
We measure and track emissions using the UK Government’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol framework across:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned fleet vehicles and on-site fuel combustion.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heating, and cooling used in offices and facilities.
- Scope 3: Other indirect emissions, including employee commuting, business travel, subcontractors, and supply chain.
Baseline Year: 2024
Baseline emissions data is collected annually to monitor progress and to set future reduction targets.
Carbon Reduction Targets
Autohorn commits to the following interim reduction goals:
| Target | Year | Scope |
| 20% reduction vs baseline | 2027 | Scope 1 & 2 |
| 50% reduction vs baseline | 2030 | Scope 1, 2 & 3 |
| Net Zero Carbon | 2035 | All scopes |
These targets align with commitments by UK businesses under the UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy and SBTi-aligned approaches to decarbonisation.
Key Strategies for Emission Reduction
Electrification of Fleet
- Continue the rollout of Electric Vehicle (EV) units in our fleet to replace diesel and petrol vehicles.
- Install and expand EV charging infrastructure at headquarters, service depots, and partner locations.
- Partner with EV leasing providers to source low-emission vans and commercial vehicles suitable for fleet operations.
- Target at least 60% electrified fleet vehicles by 2030, transitioning fully by 2035
Renewable Energy & Facilities
- Our headquarters and service facilities are designed with eco-friendly building principles including:
- High-efficiency insulation and energy-saving building systems.
- Solar PV installations and battery storage (where feasible).
- LED and motion controlled lighting in all buildings.
- Transition to 100% renewable electricity tariffs across all sites (where grid supply permits).
Operational Efficiency
- Implement telematics and route-planning systems to optimise journeys and reduce fuel use.
- Encourage low-carbon driver behaviours through training and performance tracking systems.
- Shift business travel to lower emission alternatives (e.g., rail over air travel where practical).
Supply Chain Engagement
- Engage with suppliers and partners to encourage emissions reduction and sustainable practices.
- Prioritise suppliers with verified carbon reduction credentials or net zero commitments.
Waste, Water & Resource Efficiency
- Reduce waste in offices and workshops through recycling, reuse and responsible procurement.
- Monitor and reduce water use across facilities.
- Minimise use of single-use plastics and improve material recycling.
Governance & Accountability
Autohorn’s sustainability strategy is overseen by a dedicated Carbon Reduction Steering Group, reporting quarterly to senior management. Roles include:
Carbon Manager: Oversees emissions data, reporting, and compliance.
Fleet Sustainability Lead: Manages EV transition and vehicle performance.
Operations Lead: Ensures efficient site operations and investment planning in low-carbon technologies.
Progress is reviewed annually and reported publicly on the Autohorn corporate website.
Monitoring & Reporting
We will:
- Publish an Annual Carbon Report
- Report in line with UK Government reporting guidance and best practice frameworks (e.g., CDP, TCFD) when applicable.
- Use recognised measurement standards and periodically verify emissions with third-party assessment where possible.
Engagement & Communication
Autohorn will:
- Communicate progress to customers, staff, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Provide educational resources on EV adoption and sustainable fleet management.
- Incorporate sustainability criteria into procurement and contracting decisions.
Continuous Improvement
We recognise that decarbonisation is an ongoing process. Autohorn commits to:
- Reviewing and strengthening targets as technology and best practices evolve.
- Exploring additional mitigation options such as renewable fuel use where compatible with operational needs.
- Maintaining alignment with government policy and evolving regulatory frameworks in the UK and internationally.
